what is trenchless pipe repair?
DIVERSIFIED PLUMBING TRENCHLESS PIPE BURSTING
What if there was a way to replace your existing sewer line that didn’t involve digging up your driveway, landscaping, or patio and didn’t cost an arm and a leg? Lucky for you, there is. It’s called pipe bursting and although the name sounds a bit scary, the process is anything but.
Pipe bursting is a trenchless method of replacing pipelines, involving a completely different approach to accessing and replacing a sewer line that is unobtrusive, affordable and safe compared to the traditional way, which includes digging a trench. And although it’s been around for a while, DPH is one of only a few plumbing companies in the state that offer this trenchless pipe replacement service.
Using a Bursting Head and hydraulic lift, we pull a new pipe through the existing line, breaking up the old pipe as we go.
To do this, we dig a small hole to access the pipe in the home; we access the sewer in the street typically via the manhole. Then, we fuse together the new pipe to the correct measurement and pull it through, from the basement under the home and to the sewer in the street.
The hydraulic lift pulls the pipe about 4-6 inches at a time with all of the action taking place under the home and the street. The process usually takes about a day without having to dig a trench through your yard.
It’s less expensive than the traditional way and when we’re done, you have a new sewer line that is smooth, debris-free and built to last for years. Plus, you have an untouched yard and driveway.
